Praised for his “lean, polished tenor” by Opera Magazine, British/Irish tenor Jay Broadhurst is rapidly beginning to make his mark on the UK opera scene. Under the guidance of Mark Wildman at the Royal Northern College of Music, he has recently been awarded the prestigious Frederic Cox Award for Singing.

Recent and upcoming engagements include Grail Knight Parsifal (Glyndebourne), Turiddu Cavalleria Rusticana (Occento; cover, Dorset Opera Festival), Malcolm Macbeth (Chelsea Opera Group), Borsa Rigoletto, Un Chef Le roi de Lahore (Dorset Opera Festival), Don Curzio Le nozze di Figaro (Garsington Opera), Lensky Eugene Onegin (Preston Opera), Stephen in the world premiere of Capsule, Le Prince L’amour des trois oranges, Tsar Berendeyi The Snow Maiden, King Ouf L’étoile (RNCM Opera), Spoletta Tosca (NPO), and Preacher Bernstein’s Mass (RNCM).

Alongside his operatic engagements this season, Jay will also make his debut at Wigmore Hall, performing Schumann’s Dichterliebe, as a Young Artist for the Musician’s Company.

Jay is proud to be generously supported by Musician’s Company and the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation for his commencing year of study. Away from the stage, he is a staunch supporter of his beloved Manchester United.
