Praised for his “lean, polished tenor” by Opera Magazine, British/Irish tenor Jay Broadhurst is rapidly beginning to make his mark on the UK opera scene. Under the guidance of Mark Wildman at the Royal Northern College of Music, he is the most recent recipient of the prestigious Frederic Cox Award for Singing.
Recent and upcoming engagements include: Macduff/Malcolm Macbeth (Chelsea Opera Group), Le Prince L’amour des trois oranges (RNCM Opera), Grail KnightParsifal (Glyndebourne), Turiddu Cavalleria Rusticana (Occento; cover, Dorset Opera Festival), Borsa Rigoletto, Un Chef Le roi de Lahore (Dorset Opera Festival), Don Curzio Le nozze di Figaro (Garsington Opera), Lensky Eugene Onegin (Preston Opera), Stephen in the world premiere of Capsule, Tsar Berendeyi The Snow Maiden, King Ouf L’étoile (RNCM Opera), Spoletta Tosca (NPO), and PreacherBernstein’s Mass (RNCM).
Alongside his operatic engagements this season, Jay will also make his debut at Wigmore Hall, performing Schumann’s Dichterliebe, as a Young Artist for the Musician’s Company.
Jay is proud to be generously supported by Musician’s Company and the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation for his current year of study. Away from the stage, he is a loyal supporter of his beloved Manchester United.
